ThundaBox Comeback Special 2008Tue 6th May 2008

Where have they been? Bunkered down with a new drummer, that's where they've been.

What have they been doing? Writing new songs and reworking old ones, that's what have they been doing.

Get ready for the return of ThundaBox, playing shows from the end of May. See the gig guide for more details.

HMAS ThundaBoxSat 7th Apr 2007
ThundaBox auditions a naval Bay class Minehunter for their farewell Sydney gig before taking a 6 tonne haulage to Melbourne, including themselves.

Jason and Richie had us over for a weekend fishing trip just off Taren Point: Big John's pizza delivered to the Officers Mess and a carton or six, sleeping in the Junior Officer quarters, bacon and eggs for brekkie, snag and chop lunch, these boys knew how to look after us.

We're privileged enough to be able to invite you aboard this piece of naval history and belt out a few sets while we cruise out of Botany Bay, round the heads and into Sydney Harbour, passing Garden Island. It's bound to raise a few eyebrows so you better be there.
Melbourne ManiaTue 6th Mar 2007
ThundaBox thanks the city of Melbourne for its warm reception. In particular we give thanks to the Lord our God, Paul "Creegs" Creegan for housing and watering five filthy road warriors for the duration.

Here is the chronology of insanity.

Wed 28th Feb - Leave Sydney at peak hour in the usual ThundaBox lack of organisation. Arrive in Fitzroy (at Casa de Creegs) at 4am and proceed to polish off the beer fridge, topped off with a 10am bottle of red.

Thu 1st Mar - Head to Geelong for our first show at the National Hotel which is a great warmup. Discover that 18 pots does the same trick as 12 schooners. Imantz chats up a lamp post in the early hours.

Fri 2nd Mar - Great Ocean Rd to check out Bell Beach and Torquay, plus restorative fry-up. Play one of our best ever shows at the legendary Espy to a new legion of fans and discover that Melbourne "gets" the joke.

Sat 3rd Mar - Attempted quiet night at Castle Creegs turns into a lounge room show with the speaker helmut as PA. Descends into a drunken jam session. Imantz drinks Tom Yum Goong paste when the beer runs out.

Sun 4th Mar - Clean up yields 2 full wheelie bins of empties. Slow start to the day ends with our Tote show which is almost as good as our Espy show - some observers thought it was better.

Mon 5th Mar - Final clean up unearths another wheelie bin of empties and we reluctantly sidle off to Sydney.
Sweet Sando SuccessSun 14th Jan 2007
Thanks to all who came to the Sando gig to check out ThundaBox with Bracode, R*U*S*T and Normal Day. And what an eclectic mix of bands, each bringing in a different crowd (as you'll see in the pix).

We had our new video clip for "Badly" playing on repeat downstairs so everyone got a chance to see that flaming mohawk at least 180 times. The Sando manager was a bit concerned, but I reassured him that there wouldn't be any repeat performances that evening. Damian knows that his work is done here, and his scalp is a bit tender too.

Normal Day played as a punkier three-piece without their regular keysman Jamie; R*U*S*T impressed with "Spirit of the ANZACS" and their cover of the Fours Skins anthem "A.C.A.B (All Coppers Are Bastards)"; BRACODE were very true to their band bio, sounding like Kate Bush married to a chainsaw...in a good way. They are one of the most entertaining bands that I have seen since Schlauncher.

We look forward to playing with all of the bands again in the future.
Coming together. . . BadlyThu 4th Jan 2007
Well it's finally happening. The disks are printed and the video clip for "Badly" is ready. Our launch night is at the Sando in Newtown on Saturday 13th of this month. We are excited to be playing with the most awesome oi punk band we have seen in years, R*U*ST as well as BraCode who have been on top of their scene for years now and Western suburbs rockers NORMAL DAY.

If you haven't seen us before or haven't seen us in a while then do not miss this gig. It's gonna be HUGE. We hope to see every ThundaBox fan there to rock out with us and celebrate this release.
