They’re rude, they’re lewd and they’re
Here to Ruffle Ya Fathers…
They are ThundaBox, and really, they’re old enough to know better. Leading a knockabout-rock revolution with songs celebrating the delights of fast cars, fast women and fast getaways, the ThundaBox larrikins have built a reputation as the cheeky chappies of the Sydney music scene since their inception 12 months ago. But don’t let it fool you; these boys do have a tender side. What could be more romantic than a love song dedicated to beer?
Channelling the grizzle of Motorhead, the irreverent energy of The Ramones and the Ocka insanity of Australia’s favourite yokel, Chad Morgan, ThundaBox’s style is as eclectic as their legion of fans, the ever-loyal Boxheads. In throngs that defy demographics, serious musos, schooner-munchers, rockers, bright sparks and good sorts – not to mention wayward ravers, folkies and Top 40 kids - flock to pay homage to the blistering, blustery Aussie Beer Punk that is ThundaBox.
Created from the vague notion of starting an inbred country band, ThundaBox has evolved a singular sound that encompasses cowpunk, pub rock, buzz metal and all-out cacophony. And with a definitive line-up that’s tighter than Iggy Pop’s pants, there’s no telling what Pete (flying V, vox), Shelfy (guitar, vox, megaphone), Muc (bass, vox) and Imantz (drums) will pull out next.
